About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and highly motivated CEMS Field Engineer to join our technical operations team. In this role, you will be the hands-on technical expert responsible for installing, calibrating, maintaining, and troubleshooting Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) at client and industrial sites across the country.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Execution & Maintenance

  • Installation & Commissioning: Lead field installation, wiring, and integration of CEMS equipment, including gas analyzers, sample handling systems, and data acquisition and handling systems (DAHS).
  • Calibration & Testing: Perform routine daily calibrations, quarterly CGAs, and annual Relative Accuracy Test Audits (RATA) to verify precision and regulatory alignment.
  • Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic failures in the field. Read schematics and technical manuals to execute swift, precise repairs.
  • PLC Integration: Interface with and modify basic Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) configurations for seamless communication between CEMS and plant control systems.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Maintain meticulously logged downtime, calibration errors, and maintenance records to support EPA/state agency audit readiness.
  • Draft field service reports, safety documentation, and operational manuals.
  • Write complete EPA reports for customer submittal.

Client & Project Support

  • Provide on-site technical training to plant operators on system functionality and basic maintenance workflows.
  • Manage an inventory of critical spare parts and testing gases on-site to ensure rapid resolution times.

Qualifications & Requirements

Experience & Education

  • Experience: 2+ years working directly with CEMS or industrial gas measurement instrumentation.
  • Education: Associate's degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, Process Control, or Environmental Technology; OR equivalent military experience / technical certification. A Bachelor's in Engineering or Chemistry is a plus.

Technical Competencies

  • Deep knowledge of gas analyzer technologies (extractive, dilution, chemiluminescence, paramagnetic).
  • Robust understanding of sample conditioning systems (chillers, pumps, heated sample lines).
  • Strong electrical and pneumatic troubleshooting skills (multimeters, loop calibrators, 4-20 mA signals).
  • Familiarity with EPA regulations such as 40 CFR Part 60 and Part 75 is highly preferred.
  • IT networking and computer competencies a plus.

Physical & Logistics

  • Ability to travel frequently (up to 50-70%) to industrial environments such as power plants, refineries, and chemical facilities.
  • Comfortable working independently, at heights, and in varying weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass standard industrial background screenings and drug tests.
